I recalled an early teaser that Geoff Johns gave over starting Booster Gold that had this perfect summary of who Rip was. Simple and to the point of who he's always been, origin change or not. Finally when trying to figure out which JSA issues were the ones Johns started writing him in I found it. Weird right?
"Rip Hunter is the mysterious time traveler running the show," Johns said. "He's a well-experienced, no nonsense adventurer. He's a thrill seeker who constantly restrains himself, someone who is always thinking he can relax as soon as he's taken care of his current mission. But, of course, another mission always comes up."
And that description is how I see Rip. He hides that part of himself because of the mission. But he loves what he's doing because it's the ultimate adventure. This is the guy that when telling Jason that he was above all else a logical man that happened to master different forms of martial arts smirks. He wants to relax there just isn't time to do so. Especially since Booster needs to stay focused. It sort of reminds me of Superman calling Booster on his act and saying that he knows that he loves being a hero. One of these days I'll have to do a list of similar traits Booster and Rip has because it's amusing when you see it.

Most of the complaints I've heard about Booster Gold #26 with the art aren't pages Jurgens did though many said he did. I usually don't pay attention to these things when I'm caught up with the story unless they really jumps out at me.

Fitting that it should be raining today. I went to my LCS earlier than I usually do so most of the new comics were still on the shelf. I snuck a peep at the new Green Lantern Corps issue to see what was going to get Guy so pissed off. And yep that would do it. Pretty sure a lot of fans might go red over it too. I was a little peeved that the rings were being charged for 25 cents when they should be free but I like my LCS and figured why not.

I only got these two because I just wasn't as interested in the rest. I didn't think they captured Ice which is why I didn't bother to get Fire. Their much larger than the other Booster Gold and Blue Beetle action figures. About the same size as each other which doesn't really work if you're a nitpicky fan that knows that Booster (who's supposed to be taller than Batman and Superman) is the same height as Ted, who by superhero standard is short.

Title: A Nick In Time
Fandom: DC comics
Rating: PG-13
Pairing/Characters: Booster Gold, OCs, semi-Booster/OCs depending on your POV.
Summary: Booster didn't expect to run into the supernatural but he's not sure if he minds so much.
Warnings: A little dark, some blood play, vampires in a sort of sexual nature without going too far. Sort of a late Halloween fic.

I haven't looked at Barbies since the great "Is DCs' Black Canary a hooker?" debate. A friend of mine collects them and while killing time I skimmed to see if they have anything that might be interesting. I found this. They even have Spocks' ears!

Looking around my LCB I noticed that not many, if any, are buying Cry for Justice. Sure it's the first day on the shelf but other books out today don't have nearly the same amount filling up their space. There was also a notice about next months tie ins to Blackest Night with the free rings asking for customers to reserve a copy so they have an idea how many to order. I made sure that I put one in for Booster Gold, because I don't intend to miss the issue because someone else wants the ring. Being low on funds I didn't get the second Drusilla issue or the new Angel. :(

While Michelle has by no means been developed as well as Booster--likely because writers ignored her ever existing until Geoff Johns--I have noticed a nice twist on their dynamics. Their not the typical comic twins, and the closeness has never been shown as overly sappy. Sure he loves his sister but Booster is by no means the overly protective brother like Quicksilver is with Wanda. Jurgens has made it clear that there is an element of playfulness to them. They act like brother and sister bickering like siblings tend to do. I can appreciate Johns role in bring back Michelle but I think he didn't understand her personality. Strangely, Johns got one factor right but failed to follow up on it all the way.

We see it all the time in every popular series. Be it on tv or comics. Joss Whedon frequently backpedals on what he said to keep playing with the fans that still care about particular pairings. Scott Allie keeps putting his own two cents into things that have nothing to do with the current plot and anger many fans.
I'm willing to give Tony Daniels' (the writer/artist behind Battle for the Cowl) a little leeway despite his opinions of the characters. Simply because he was pretty much pushed into writing the story at the last second, most of the ideas seem to be written for other writers and many keep repeating the company line. Then we have writers like Chuck Dixon, he was fired for protesting the many tie ins and addressed the issue online. Dwayne McDuffie frequently complained about the many restraints DC was putting on his book. Refusing to let him use a few characters, having to dump plotlines to put in tie ins, etc. He also was fired. We also have Mark Waid who said that Dan Didio used to rant about how awful 52 was when they were writing it and how Countdown was "52 done right." Dan Didio denied he said this.
Is honesty a bad thing in this medium or a breath of fresh air?

"Dan DiDio’s plan is to use the League books to promote less well known characters in the DC Universe and reduce the roles of the traditional characters – including Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Vixen is expected to be the character DC will be using the JLA books to promote the most."
Color me interested. I've been steering clear of JLA books in recent years as I had little to no interest in the members and haven't been overly impressed with what I have read. Sure I love Batman but not enough to by every book he appears in. Even if there's little to no chance of Booster being in the title I do hope that Ice finds a home and perhaps Supernova. Yes, I went there. But come on, that's a plot that is begging to be explored. Many viewed him to be the apparent heir of Metropolis when Superman was missing (poor Steel) and Clark was really impressed with him. Yet he hasn't been seen for roughly a year (their time.) This could either be a way for Booster to be on the team without acting incompetent or give Daniel a chance to grow.
